Interlibrary Loan Services (ILL)

RULES FOR OUR UNIVERSITY MEMBERS TO REQUEST BOOKS AND MATERIALS FROM OTHER LIBRARIES

Interlibrary Loan service is provided only for academic and administrative staff of our university to help them borrow books and materials which cannot be found in our library (Turkish-German University) from the libraries of other universities and research institutions in Turkey.

Our members of staff who want to make use of the service are required to fill in the Interlibrary Lending Request Form and deliver it to the relevant unit of our library. Moreover, because all shipping costs paid under the service will belong to the user, our members are required to keep a deposit in the relevant unit for the mailing expenses.

A maximum of 3 books can be requested at a time under ILL.

Every library sets borrowing quotas for other libraries within the framework of its own ILL rules. Therefore, care should be taken not to exceed the limit of 3 books for each reader so that all readers are able to use this service. In cases where the demand is high, the first 3 of the incoming forms will be taken into consideration, and no action will be taken for the other forms.

The arrival time of the book requested depends on the library which sends the book and the time spent in the mail.

The user who has requested the book is considered to have accepted to use the book without violating its copyright and return it within the requested period of time.

Whether the desired material types (audio-visual materials, theses, reference sources, special collections and journals) are open for interlibrary circulation changes according to the ILL loan conditions of the library which provides the material.

In the case that the book is not returned on time or is lost, the rules of the library from which the publication was borrowed will apply.

The library which has provided books through the ILL has the right to recall the publications if it needs them. In such cases, the user must return the publications to our information center.

INTERLIBRARY MATERIAL PROVISION RULES FOR OTHER LIBRARIES AND INFORMATION CENTERS

Libraries and information centers registered in the Interlibrary Cooperation Tracking System can make use of this service on request through KITS. Users cannot individually apply to our library and use this service.

Libraries requesting to borrow publications:

Before making a request, they should check the library catalog whether the book is in our collection or not. http: //katalog.tau.edu.tr

A library can borrow up to 5 publications at a time. The loan period (including the period in the mail) is 30 days. No extension can be made for the borrowed publications.

In order for the requests to be provided on time and accurately, the request information must be reported completely. Requests made with incomplete or incorrect information are canceled and reported to the library which has sent the request.

If a library wanting to borrow books has any delayed books in its account, new requests from this library will not be processed.

The requesting library and the authorized librarian are responsible for the loss or damage of the publications (including loss or damage in the mail).

The library which requests the publication is thought to have accepted to use the publication in line with its copyright and return it when the borrowing period expires.

The library has the right to recall the publications, if necessary, without waiting for their return date. The books borrowed must be returned to the library within 48 hours following the recall announcement issued to the relevant library.

The library which has made the request is obliged to pay the shipping fee for the books returned and sent by couriers.
